Calorie Lens Privacy Policy

Calorie Lens is a general-wellness calorie diary. We designed it to keep your meal history private and minimize server data.

Data kept on your devices and iCloud

Your profile, weight, height, meal history, reports, and saved thumbnails are stored with Apple SwiftData and your private CloudKit database. The Calorie Lens server and its administrators cannot see this data. Apple operates iCloud under your Apple account settings.

AI photo analysis

Only after you consent, the app resizes the selected meal photo and removes metadata. The resized image is sent to our Cloudflare service, then to OpenRouter and Google Gemini to estimate visible foods and calories. The original photo is not uploaded or saved by Calorie Lens. Our server does not store the resized image or meal result. AI estimates can be inaccurate and must be reviewed.

Account and operational data

When you use AI scans, Sign in with Apple provides an Apple-specific identifier and, if available, an email or private-relay email. We store that identifier, email, session records, daily scan usage, model/token counts, provider cost, and operational errors. We use this only for authentication, quota enforcement, security, support, and service operation.

Sharing and tracking

We do not sell personal data, use advertising trackers, or use meal photos for advertising. AI photo processing uses Cloudflare, OpenRouter, and Google as service providers. OpenRouter requests are configured to require zero-data-retention routing and deny data collection where supported.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account in Profile. This revokes your server sessions and Apple authorization, deletes account-linked server data, and removes local records while scheduling deletion from private iCloud. Anonymous aggregate AI cost totals may remain without an account link.

Your choices

You may use onboarding, manual logging, reports, and local browsing without signing in or uploading photos. You can sign out, export meal data, or delete records from Profile.
